This was previously known as Phase 1 Habitat Survey. A Preliminary Ecological Appraisal or PEA is usually requested by the Local Planning Authority. This survey determines the potential likelihood of protected species presence on site and whether mitigation or species specfic surveys will be required or not. The most common protected species include Bats, Birds, Great-crested Newts, Badgers, Hazel dormice, Otters, Water vole and Reptiles.
